October 2007
Since developing the small underwater housing the kit has been in hot demand.
In July it was used to capture second unit shots on a two week shoot in New Zealand's South Island. It was put through it's paces with chopper shots over Franz Josef Glacier, on muddy Quad Bikes and skiing at Cardrona ( near Queenstown).
In August Best Picture Show used the camera in almost every configuration on location in Cape York for a new croc research doco with Terri Irwin.
A few days later is was jetting off to the USA capturing vehicle tracking shots in new segments of Bindi the Jungle Girl (Animal Planet and ABC).
September. Back in Australia for a new National Geographic series being shot in the NT. Crocs were again the focus of this two week shoot with Simon Says TV's Simon Manzie putting the camera through it's paces in pole-cam mode.
October and the camera is capturing footage for the Surf Lifesavers in a short series of training DVD's. It is being mounted to IRBs and rescue boards to provide a unique view of safe watercraft operation.
In all cases the camera and housing have performed faultlessly.
It has allowed Directors and DOP's to achieve shots in awkward or hazardous conditions and capture action sequences quickly with dynamic angles. It gives a sequence impact. With fast setup time and ultimate flexibility, they get more coverage with minimal effect on the budget.

Freckle Face's HV10 mounted on the windscreen with the mini grip kit |
July 2007
Before it could be used in an underwater housing Freckle Face had to be sure of the image quality of the Canon HV10.
After initial testing, the camera was first used on a Qld. Department of Transport Learner Driver Training DVD produced by Dolphin Creative.
While the Sony 970 digital betacam recorded the master shots and dialogue the Canon HV10 was getting the cutaways. It was mounted on the dashboard in front of the driver and other tight spots in the car where most cameras just can't fit. The HV10 footage intercut seamlessly with the digital betacam footage, so well in fact, the Director said we'll shoot it next time just on a couple of HV10s and a DAT.
